Qu’est-ce que la défense de la langue française dans le monde ?
Certainement pas uniquement le développement d’activités culturelles, ici et là.
La promotion de la langue française passe avant tout par la présence de la France dans les
domaines qui concernent les gens dans leur vie et pour leur futur. Il s’agit des sujets économiques et du monde des affaires, des sujets scientifiques, technologiques, de développement,
politiques, etc.
Ainsi la langue accompagne la présence française, elle en est un corollaire évident. La langue en tant que telle, considérée seulement comme un vecteur d’une culture qui a été, et non pas comme
un moyen de communication accompagnant des actions sur des sujets qui concernent l’avenir des populations, serait un instrument suranné et voué à une disparition progressive.
De même, l’affrontement permanent à la langue anglaise et la négation de la position de cette langue en tant que code commode servant de véhicule aux échanges internationaux n’a pas de sens. On
ne lutte pas contre les faits. Le français a une place prédominante à défendre dans le cadre du multilinguisme constitué par les quelques langues qui ont prétention à avoir une influence
planétaire : l’espagnol, l’arabe, le chinois, par exemple, et pas uniquement l’anglais...
